Moving the blog

I am moving this blog to a new home.

Squarespace is the service I will be using for my blog AND my shop. I've had no troubles using Typepad, and their support has been terrific. But I wanted to do more with my website, to have more options for showing my work. Squarespace allows me to easily create galleries of my drawings, make different pages with all kinds of layouts, AND (most importantly) run a store, easily, all under one roof. I can't believe I haven't moved my site sooner. 

I was running my shop with Shopify, so by consolidating both my blog and my shop into Squarespace it will save me about $600 a year. And I'll have everything on one site.

If I was just blogging, I would stick with Typepad. But I'm doing more than blogging. 

It hasn't been an easy move. I've been doing it bit by bit over the last couple of weeks, and it's finally done.

I survived giving my first talk

Well, I did it. I survived giving my first talk.

It was at the inaugural 99u Local event here in Victoria, BC, and it was fun. I was a nervous wreck for about four days leading up to the event, and while I'm relieved it's over, I would definitely do it again.

I've been wanting to try to do something like this for ages. And I've been given the opportunity to speak in the past but I was never quite ready. 

It was a packed house too, with over 100 people in attendance:

I talked about my transition from a full-time graphic designer to a full-time artist, and the things I figured out along the way, like these (a couple of slides from my presentation):
